Description
~ The Hoosier Environmental Council (HEC) is Indiana’s leading educator and advocate for the environment. ~
HEC works to raise awareness and stimulate discussion about environmental issues in Indiana—and ultimately help change laws, create jobs, protect and improve the environment, and make Indiana a healthier, better place to live and do business.
Position Overview
- The Outreach Associate would assist the Manager of Outreach in having continually newcontent on our website, facilitating highly professional, up-to-date materials to share atvarious events, maintaining an up-to-date database, and assisting in grassroots organizing.
- The Outreach Associate would work for HEC for at least six months (with a likely additional6 month extension) and would be paid $15 per hour for ~20 hours per week.
- We are looking for someone who is curious, warm, respectful, meticulous, veryconscientious of protecting data, and genuinely interested in both the environment andpublic policy.
- HEC is willing to recruit from a diversity of demographics, including a very mature highschool student, college student, retiree, or stay-at-home parent.
Responsibilities
- Perform weekly updates to the HEC website (add news articles and events; fix broken links;flag webpages that appear to be out-of-date)
- Update contact information & lists in our donor database and email marketing program
- Organize outreach materials (e.g., printing & sorting materials; assembling kits for Staff)
- Represent HEC at select outreach events
- Assist with outreach efforts via phone and email (i.e., grassroots organizing)
- Perform other tasks as agreed to with Manager of Outreach
General Expectations
- Work relatively independently, w/guidance through scheduled calls and in-person meetings
- Conduct themselves with the highest standards of professionalism with HEC staff, board,volunteers and audiences that HEC engages with
- Honor documents that say “Confidential”
- Understand that any research done with HEC staff would be integrated as HEC material
