Solar Electrician

Position Overview

Midwest Wind and Solar is looking to hire apprentice and journeyman level skilled electricians. Ideal Solar Electrician candidates are motivated team players with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn and master all aspects of installing PV solar systems.

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• Weekends required
• Day shift
• Overtime
• 8 hour shift
• 10 hour shift
• 12 hour shift

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities to preform project installations include:

• Mechanical/structural mounting of racking, modules and electrical equipment
• Working on commercial roof tops as well as installing ground-mounted systems
• Following layout of solar modules
• Plug and Play DC Wiring
• Staging of material on roofs and ground
• Use of power tools and hand tools
• Knowledge of the NEC
• Ability to run rigid conduit and thread up to 4”
• Termination Experience in up to 3000A Panels
• Installation of Service Panels, Disconnects, Transformers
• Able to produce a neat and quality work product that will last 30 years or more.
• Able to follow directions in a safe manner
• Able to pass a background check and drug screen

Qualifications

Knowledge and skill requirements include:

• H.S. Diploma, two-year degree in technology/industrial arts preferred
• 5 years of construction background is preferred
• 5 years of commercial electrical experience is preferred
• Valid driver’s license, with reliable transportation
• Experience in electrical and mechanical installations, general construction and ladder work
• Experience with all types of hand-held and power tools
• Basic understanding/experience with electrical wiring of AC and DC systems is preferred
• Experience working with all types of building materials
• Team player who listens, learns, and actively communicates
• Visual thinker good at problem solving and implementing ideas
• Desire to learn and master all aspects of installing solar PV systems!

Experience:

• Solar Installation: 2 years (Required)
• Construction: 7 years (Required)
• Commercial Electrical: 5 years (Required)

Compensation

• This full time position is an hourly rate position (Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour) that requires full time travel with paid hotels, per diem, overtime opportunity, prevailing wage opportunities for motivated team members.
