Description

Kirksey Architecture is seeking a candidate with three or more years’ work experience for a position with our Sustainability team. We seek a person with a passion for green building and sustainability to manage the certification process and provide design guidance on projects pursuing LEED certification.

The LEED Coordinator position includes primarily LEED and other green building certification data management and coordination, alongside green building research and building performance modeling. The ideal candidate will be methodical, well-organized, and eager to explore the details of the LEED rating systems, able to manage time effectively, and good at working with teams. The job requires reading detailed architectural drawings and specifications and understanding building industry terms. We will work with the selected candidate to learn these skills quickly, if they don’t have them already.  Candidates with school or work projects reflecting knowledge of green building and especially LEED are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Apply all credits in the LEED New Construction, Core & Shell, Commercial Interiors building rating systems, and the concepts behind them. Learn multiple LEED compliance paths and interpretations for each credit.
  • Apply the basics of other green building rating systems such as SITES, Living Building Challenge, Fitwel, and WELL.
  • Coordinate with architects and designers at Kirksey, as well as project consultants and clients, to help them understand green building certification concepts. Conduct trainings on these topics.
  • Work closely with other members of the Kirksey sustainability team to identify priorities and precedents for LEED projects, and how to optimize processes for LEED certification.
  • Solicit, organize, and enter various types of LEED documentation data for multiple projects concurrently. Data must be managed for accuracy and compliance with requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Architecture, or related field, with some knowledge of architecture and construction fields.
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Able to work simultaneously with a variety of team members and facilitate strategic conversations.
  • Curious. Able to pick up new knowledge quickly.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills. Attentive to details.
  • Dependable and able to work without close supervision.
  • Proficiency with Climate Studio, Fenestra Pro, Tally, Autocase, Revit, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is helpful. LEED documentation will be managed through the LEED Online website.
  • LEED AP with specialty preferred. Candidates without a LEED AP BD&C or ID&C credential will be expected to earn one within the first six months of work.
