The mission of The Town of Dennis, MA Department of Natural Resources is to protect, manage and enhance the natural resources within the Town of Dennis while providing services and facilities that provide public access and enjoyment of conservation lands for residents and visitors. To encourage the sustainable use of the town’s shellfish, agricultural, and coastal resources.

Position Overview

The Town of Dennis, MA Department of Natural Resources is seeking a full-time (40 hours per week) Land Management Specialist to perform a variety of environmental, ecological and law enforcement duties to protect and manage the Town's natural resources and conservation lands. This position reports directly to the Department Director and will be responsible for managing the Town's Conservation lands by developing land management plans, recommending and supervising maintenance and development of projects, and advising Director of needed regulations and actions.

This position performs physical labor utilizing appropriate machines, equipment and tools to establish and maintain the Town's nature trails, community gardens, blueberry patches, and conservation areas. Makes presentations to Board of Selectmen, Conservation Commission, and other applicable departments or agencies.

Qualifications

  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree; and three to five (3-5) years of experience in biological sciences, natural resource management, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • May be required to complete an ATV training certification course, chainsaw safety training course and Wildlands Fire Training.
  • Certification as a licensed Herbicide/Pesticide Applicator is a plus.
  • Strong writing skills are required.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience.
