~ ecoPartners works with landowners and project developers to build successful forest carbon offset projects. ecoPartners specializes in the technical aspects of project design, planning and development: remote sensing, biometrics and accounting methodologies. ~

ecoPartners is working with numerous landowners to implement sustainable forest management practices and to monetize the resulting value of sequestering carbon.

We are actively developing projects in Brazil, Guatemala, Colombia, Panama and Ecuador. We have served as technical consultant for about half of all validated and verified REDD projects to date, accounting for over 12 million tons of verified carbon reductions on 1.7 million hectares worldwide.

Internship Announcement

Forest Carbon Works is the exclusive access point to the carbon markets for small landowners in the United States. Landowners sell the carbon stored by their forest through membership in Forest Carbon Works. Forest Carbon Works is a service provided by ecoPartners, a global leader in ecosystem project development.

We are offering two internships for the spring semester 2017, running for three months from March 13th to May 12th. The internship will be fulfilled at our office in Berkeley, California. The expected commitment is approximately six hours a week during regular business hours with a flexible schedule to accommodate academic obligations.

Applicants must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.

The Opportunity

If you like technology and are passionate about conservation, this internship is for you! You will work with cutting-edge tools to accelerate conservation and to mitigate climate change. You will learn about carbon markets for forest landowners and emerging business models for conservation. This internship will expose you to a network of forward-minded professionals collectively working to shift the paradigm of conservation finance.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Hardware development.
  • Help to build and calibrate a fleet of smartphones that allow landowners to measure the carbon in their forest.
  • Software development.
  • Contribute to software design by testing usability and identifying errors.
  • Support documentation.
  • Design and create instructional videos on how to use the Carbon Works App.
  • Marketing.
  • Help design and distribute materials for landowners in target markets.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship that includes a stipend of $150 a month for three months.
