Position Overview:

The assistant will help with various sustainability projects; tightly manage and control costs; deliver outstanding customer services and timely and accurate information. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in property and building management as well as environmental studies, green products and technology.

Responsibilities: 

LEED Responsibilities:

  • Keep all USGBC LEED-EB documents up to date and review these documents for energy savings and upgrades.
  • Draft energy management plans including lighting control plans and water saving plans in coordination with department resources.
  • Conduct internet research for sustainable products
  • Assist purchasing with making sure orders are certified green for office and building supplies and provide tracking documentation.
  • Maintain current city, state and federal compliance records and monitor websites for green code compliance requirements.
  • Ensure that green interior and exterior cleaning standards are met by periodic inspections
  • Maintain recycling standards. 

Building Responsibilities:

  • Assist with real estate management including providing reports, imputing work orders, helping manage renovations
  • Process invoices and monitor department budgets
  • Systematize office services and building documents to ensure efficiencies and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot problems and arrange for repairs and/or improvements
  • Other projects as needed 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required, science degree strongly preferred
  • 1 to 3 years related experience, green experience or certification preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills
  • Dependable
  • Respect for and adherence to confidentiality is required
  • Well-developed customer service orientation
  • Research skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and follow through
  • A self-starter, willing to take the initiative
  • A team player as well as able to work independently
