The Department of Integrated Environmental Science (IES) offers a degree program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Integrated Environmental Science. The department also offers a minor in Integrated Environmental Science, a minor in Environmental Justice, and Masters programs in Integrated Environmental Science through the School of Graduate Studies.

Position Overview

Bethune-Cookman University is looking for a coastal field ecologist at the Assistant Professor level to join the rapidly developing Department of Integrated Environmental Science. We are particularly interested in a colleague with a strong background in animal population ecology and/or fisheries (specific coastal/estuarine habitats and organisms open) who will use mathematical, statistical, numerical-modeling, or theoretical approaches to study population dynamics as impacted by land use or other coastal stressors.

Qualifications

  • An established teaching (Bachelors and Masters), research/publication, and funding record (or evidence of promise thereof) in population ecology and coastal environmental science, (salary based on experience and record)
  • A strong background or interest in field experimentation, data analysis, and forecasting to inform environmental policy and resource management decisions
  • Development of a research program in coastal field ecology involving students (undergraduate and Masters)
  • Ability to relate teaching and research interests to coastal environmental restoration
  • IES is an interdisciplinary department closely tied to the B. J. Moore Center for Integrated Environmental Science, so preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate an ability to contribute to, cooperate with, and enhance the work of faculty with many different scientific and non-scientific specializations
