Position Overview

Saint Joseph’s University’s Department of Biology has an ongoing need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to staff a variety of courses each semester. Professionals with experience and a passion for teaching at the undergraduate level will be given preference. Part-time adjunct faculty may instruct 1 or 2 courses each semester on an “as needed” basis. Courses available for adjunct staffing are offered during the day and also in the evening.

Courses available for adjunct staffing may include:

Non-Major courses:

• Exploring the Earth
• The Environment

Laboratory section:

• Lab sections for non-science major course Exploring the Earth

Responsibilities

• Teaching of a specified course
• Preparation of materials
• Providing support and guidance to students
• Reporting grades

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Master’s Degree in an area of Biology, Environmental Science or closely related major

Preferred Qualifications:

• ABD or PhD in an area of Biology or Environmental Science. Previous teaching experience. Willingness to be flexible in class scheduling

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:

• May require standing for long periods of time, talking for long periods of time and carrying course materials
