Position Overview

Energy and Green Building Inspector and Rater is a full time position at a nationally-recognized, local, engineering consulting firm. We specialize in providing design review, inspecting and testing services (i.e., quality assurance) for new building construction projects. Key clients include owners, architects, developers, production home builders, custom home builders, and multifamily builders.

Responsibilities

  • Working as part of a highly skilled, experienced team.
  • Driving to construction sites in Maryland.
  • Performing on-site building inspections for compliance with energy efficient, and green home certification programs.
  • Performing blower door and HVAC duct testing on newly constructed buildings.
  • Performing computer energy efficiency modeling.
  • Verifying and administering Green Building Certifications.
  • Assisting in field diagnostics and special engineering projects.
  • Commissioning of commercial buildings (especially multi-family).
  • Delivering verbal and written inspection reports to clients.

Qualifications

  • Must also be physically fit (e.g., be able lift 50 lbs.), and able to work outdoors in fast-paced construction sites. Must be reliable, professional, and a good communicator. Also, must have transportation and a clean driving record.
  • Ideal candidate will have at least a 2-year degree, construction experience, and a career focus on developing their building science and sustainable building skills and related professional credentials (e.g., HERS Rater, ENERGY STAR for Homes, LEED for Homes, National Green Building Standard, Commissioning, etc.). Will provide opportunities for advancement and paid training to qualified candidates.

Compensation

  • Salary: $15.00 to $30.00 /hour
