Position Overview

Slingshot Power is currently seeking a Vice President/General Manager, Solar and Energy Storage.

Responsibilities

The specific duties of the Vice President/General Manager, Solar and Energy Storage will include:

  • Performing Grid integration of renewable assets, Solar PV plant control systems, Energy optimization and analytics
  • Hybrid energy simulation including PV, wind, storage, and diesel genset, Static and dynamic power systems simulation and modeling (load flow, short circuit, harmonics, stability and transients) (PSCAD/EMTDC, EMTP, Matlab/Simulink, ETAP, OpenDSS), Flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS)
  • Medium voltage substation design, Ancillary services of distributed generations, Power system protection and coordination, Power quality, Diagnostics, root cause analysis and resolution
  • Design and engineer commercial and utility scale PV solar systems between 5kW and 10MW in size and look for solution to integrate energy storage
  • Responding to technical design and engineering challenges and providing troubleshooting solutions
  • Creative problem-solving with external partners to keep pipeline projects moving forward
  • Provide mentorship to engineering team members and coaching team members including remote location team
  • Maintain consistent communication and follow ups about progress/status of ongoing issues both internally and externally
  • Develop templates, spreadsheets, analysis techniques, and reporting standards to increase efficiency and maintain design accuracy/quality and integrity
  • Finding ways to enhance productivity and improve engineering throughput
  • Integrating energy storage systems into the solar PV system.
  • Provide mentorship and training to new and junior engineering personnel.
  • Project management and Budgets and ensure contract compliance with technical aspects of executed EPC contracts. Pre-construction conceptual Budgeting/estimating
  • Support Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) negotiations and administration
  •  Provide support on meeting the requirements of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and acts as a subject matter expert on regulatory documents such as Protection and Control (PRC), Facilities, Design, and Maintenance (FAC), and Power Factor and Voltage Support (VAR) standards;
  • Marketing energy efficient platform to drive revenue

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering with Major in Power systems and load flow studies
  • 10+ years of experience in the power industry with growing experience in operations or engineering, managing budgets, developing/maintaining business plans, and measuring team performance
  • 7 – 10 years of design and engineering experience, utility-scale high voltage experience preferred
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience leading a team of technical individuals to accomplish defined team objectives
  • Comprehensive knowledge of transmission systems, medium and high voltage substation electrical equipment, underground distribution systems, dynamics and stability modeling of Power Pools, the Interconnection Request process, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, lightning protection, grounding grids, relay protection schemes, and applicable industry standards and codes, including Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE), National Electric Safety Code (NESC), and ANSI (American National Standards Institute)
  • Proficient knowledge of all applicable aspects of the electrical engineering discipline, including expert knowledge in at least two subject matter areas
