Founded in 1990 by recording artist Don Henley, the Project uses the land it has protected in Walden Woods to foster an ethic of environmental stewardship and social responsibility, both cornerstones of Thoreau’s philosophy.
Position Overview
The Farm at Walden Woods is looking for energetic, enthusiastic, and hardworking people for our 2017 season starting in June and ending October 31st. We are an organic, 8 acre, produce farm located on Route 2 eastbound in Concord, MA. As well as farming, we run a small farm stand Wednesdays-Sundays, 11 am-7 pm, from the end of June through Halloween, including Labor Day and Columbus Day.
Depending on your interests and skill set, work will be either in the fields or in the farm stand. In the fields, you will be expected to plant, weed, and harvest crops. In the farm stand, you will be expected to run the cash register, maintain inventory, engage with customers, and keep the space clean and orderly. Hours can vary, depending on how far along we are in the season.
However, weekends are required once the farm stand opens. Both positions require flexibility, hard work, patience, and an ability to work for extended periods of time outdoors.
