Since its founding in 1993 by a group of local outdoor enthusiasts, the Foundation has become a respected and important advocate for the sustainability of one of the world's most unique ecosystems.

Funds raised by the Foundation are used for scientific research, advancing understanding of the Greater Everglades ecosystem and to provide grants to our conservation partners. In addition to grants, the Foundation supports necessary legal actions to help protect the Everglades. Through environmental leadership, scientific expertise and policy experience, the Everglades Foundation works to protect and restore America's Everglades.

The Foundation's world-class science department conducts and sponsors scientific research and analysis so that our policies, positions and actions are governed by facts.

Position Overview

The primary duties of the Water Resources Engineer would be to analyze and evaluate technical elements of Everglades restoration projects and identify appropriate structural and non-structural elements of projects needed to achieve successful restoration.

The Water Resources Engineer supports The Everglades Foundation staff by providing concise recommendations based on a variety of scientific assessments and hydraulic/hydrologic modeling outputs, while investigating Everglades restoration projects. Qualifications

  • The Water Resources Engineer will be expected to have advanced knowledge of Everglades hydrology, hydraulics and application of regional scale models.
  • The Water Resources Engineer will be responsible for conducting hydrologic investigations to assess the effects of proposed plans on the Everglades ecosystem and provide recommendations to improve the proposed management actions.
