The Garden pursues its mission through its role as a museum of living plant collections arranged in gardens and landscapes across its National Historic Landmark site; through its comprehensive education programs in horticulture and plant science; and through the wide-ranging research programs of the International Plant Science Center.

Position Overview

Under the direction of the VP of Marketing and in collaboration with education program leaders, the Marketing Manager for Education, manages and implements marketing activities for NYBG’s education divisions: Adult Education, School for Professional Horticulture, and teacher, school, and registered family programs (such as camps). This position is a key contributor to NYBG’s content marketing efforts and must be an excellent written communicator with well-rounded marketing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Generate compelling content for multi-channel use such as email marketing, social media, videos and print materials by developing the appropriate voice and tone to establish rapport and credibility with a range of audiences.
  • Liaison with outside agencies to develop and implement media plans.
  • Track and report on effectiveness of campaigns, including working with Registration offices to pull registration and customer reports.
  • Manage and implement digital marketing efforts including influencer outreach, maintaining and creating new website content and SEO optimization.
  • Manage direct mail efforts including working with the in-house design team to create materials, such as brochures, and implement and track mailing plans.
  • Identify professional communities for promotional outreach and leverage opportunities for cross-promoting educational offerings to existing NYBG constituents.
  • Manage annual marketing budgets.

Qualifications

  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to generate content for a variety of channels.
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of marketing or communications experience.
  • Familiarity with website content management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of PhotoShop, WordPress, and HTML a plus.
