Board members play a vital role in shaping our strategy, strengthening our programs, and expanding our impact. This is an opportunity to contribute your skills, experience, and perspective to support marine conservation, youth education, and community connection.

Help shape the future of ocean stewardship in the Salish Sea. The Salish Sea School — www.thesalishseaschool.org — aims to awaken curiosity and deepen connections with the sea through shore and sea exploration programs for all ages.
The Salish Sea School Difference
The Salish Sea School is not a traditional school—we’re a small nonprofit creating hands-on, place-based marine conservation programs for people of all ages, from preschoolers to adults over 100. Whether out on the water or on local shorelines, we empower our community to explore, connect, and advocate for all marine environments.
As a Board Member, you’ll help shape this mission and ensure our programs continue to thrive. You’ll work alongside a dedicated team to strengthen our vision, expand our reach, and support transformative learning and research experiences.
What You’ll Do (Board Member)
- Attend monthly or quarterly board meetings
- Participate in committee work as needed
- Support fundraising, outreach, and mission-based advocacy
What We’re Looking For
- A passion for ocean conservation and community learning
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: nonprofit governance, finance, audit, evaluation, communications, fundraising, law, strategic planning, human resources, education/program design, or community partnerships
- Availability to contribute approximately 5–10 hours per month

- Volunteer governance role; no stipend/honorarium.
