Guide Marine Conservation and Experiential Education: Join Our Board

Help shape the future of ocean stewardship in the Salish Sea. The Salish Sea School — www.thesalishseaschool.org — aims to awaken curiosity and deepen connections with the sea through shore and sea exploration programs for all ages.

The Salish Sea School Difference

The Salish Sea School is not a traditional school—we’re a small nonprofit creating hands-on, place-based marine conservation programs for people of all ages, from preschoolers to adults over 100. Whether out on the water or on local shorelines, we empower our community to explore, connect, and advocate for all marine environments.

As a Board Member, you’ll help shape this mission and ensure our programs continue to thrive. You’ll work alongside a dedicated team to strengthen our vision, expand our reach, and support transformative learning and research experiences.

What You’ll Do (Board Member)

  • Attend monthly or quarterly board meetings
  • Participate in committee work as needed
  • Support fundraising, outreach, and mission-based advocacy

What We’re Looking For

  • A passion for ocean conservation and community learning
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: nonprofit governance, finance, audit, evaluation, communications, fundraising, law, strategic planning, human resources, education/program design, or community partnerships
  • Availability to contribute approximately 5–10 hours per month

Additional Information

  • Volunteer governance role; no stipend/honorarium.
  • Please disclose any potential conflicts of interest during the expression-of-interest process.

How to Express Interest

Please email your resume and a brief statement of interest to board@thesalishseaschool.org by 30 November 2025.
