Position Overview
This position is responsible for Technical Programs providing technical support to our Renewable Services Group across the country. This position ensures value added application and support of processes and technologies to optimize operations and maintenance.
Key focus areas are equipment reliability, performance and efficiency, maintenance program strategy, Wind & Solar fleet equipment condition based on predictive & preventative technologies, maintenance and operations technology applications & meter strategy and governance to insure revenue accuracy.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides leadership and direction for Technical Programs department within Wanzek Renewables Engineering & Services Group. Responsible for the development and implementation of business plans that deliver best in class Technical Programs to support corporate and department goals.
- Develop and implement industry best Technical Programs to optimize operations and maintenance processes in accordance with approved standards, practices, and procedures. Ensures that internal and external resources are available to successfully provide technical programs.
- Supports and provides leadership in corporate safety, regulatory, and financial goals. Ensures workforce engagement and effective developmental plans address workforce risks.
- Builds and supports effective working relationships between internal customers in wind, solar & third party O&M teams.
- On assigned OM projects, reviews client Performance Output Specification and team drawings to influence suitability of team design to Facility Management (FM) requirements. Drives optimization of building systems and equipment design and works with Design & Construction team to develop operations plans and cost strategies to arrive to lowest NPV.
- Leads team of subject matter experts and strategic partners to prepare detailed operations plan, staffing structure and cost estimates for O&M services, lifecycle maintenance and transition services for submittal as the final solution to the client RFP.
- Attends project team design team meetings and represents Wanzek in a professional and collaborative manner to review and influence suitability with customer requirements.
- Reviews relevant Request for Proposal (RFP) schedules (initially and on an ongoing basis as addendums are developed) and provides input to Sales, Legal and Wanzek team from an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) perspective. Assists Business Development Director (BDD) with proposal bid text, black-line of project documents including Project Agreement, Facility Management Services Agreement, Interface Agreement and project matrix outlining the division of responsibilities.
- Provides input and assistance as required in regards to the OM team as they develop Financial Targets.
- Provides specification insight, benchmarking, risk mitigation strategies and best practices from other similar facilities.
- Responsible for accuracy and quality control of the final cost proposal.
- Participates and presents at Bi-lateral meetings/presentations with Customers and Owners team including: Design Presentation Meetings and Commercially Confidential Meetings.
- Prepares strategic or clarifying requests for information in the areas of O&M scope of services, technology, lifecycle maintenance, handback conditions and performance standards.
- Assists Sales as needed in preparing and presenting the evolving project details in internal management reviews throughout the procurement process.
- Ensures a smooth transfer of knowledge to the members of the Transition team after Financial Close.
- Participates in appropriate professional organizations and builds relationships within the Wind industry.
- Leads or participates in other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Educations & Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Construction Management, Engineering, or related major or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10+ years of related work experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek’s Zero Injury principles Standardizes process development, procedure documentation, maintenance and continual improvement.
- Development and implementation of wind technician training and development program, hiring standards and onboarding.
- Interface to customer operations fleet engineering teams.
- First response to both internal and customer technical requests.
- Knowledge of quality management.
- Plan and set up Operations center– applying lean principles to ensure production reliability and waste reduction.
- Maintain operations fleet and logistical planning.
- Provide data analytics and production assurance consulting services to customers.
- Procurement and supplier management – develop standards and procedures, execution and supplier qualification audits.
