Solar Technican

~ When the United States wind industry experienced a renaissance in 2006, Buddy and Nikki Cummings saw the importance of developing renewable energy sources and seized the opportunity. In 2007, World Wind & Solar (WWS) was founded by these two natives of Tehachapi, CA, the birthplace of the wind industry in North America. WWS began as a small, family-run business with a focus on electrical construction and new project development. Their 'mom and pop shop' thrived in an industry full of construction and manufacturing giants. ~

Since then, WWS has grown to more than 150 employees who provide construction, maintenance and operations services to some of the nation's largest wind and solar projects. Powerhouse clients such as GE, Berkshire Hathaway, SunPower, Vestas, IEA Renewables, EDPR, RES, Mortenson, and Brookfield Renewables, make up a portfolio of more than 25 companies.

Their strategic expansion into solar energy in 2013 was carefully thought out and well executed through their partnership with Harvey Stephens, an early solar pioneer with over 25 years of experience in the solar industry. Today, stretching across two separate sectors-wind and solar-WWS has operations in over 20 states and offer a variety of services for renewable energy companies in both construction and operations and maintenance.

The founders' connection to renewable energy dates back long before 2007. Buddy Cummings is the son of Steve Cummings, the former president and founder of Oak Creek. Dubbed the Wind Czar, Steve and his team installed some of the first wind turbines in Tehachapi and purchased the first Vestas Turbine ever installed in North America. Buddy and Nikki have since employed the same entrepreneurial spirit to guide the company today.

Position Overview

World Wind & Solar is looking for Experienced Solar Technicians to work in an industrial environment. Position is responsible for performing operation and maintenance tasks on solar collection assemblies. Also, provides inspections, electrical and mechanical repairs as well as electronic and mechanical trouble shooting for operating solar fields.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow safety procedures, observe safe working practices and maintain a safe working environment.
• Must have valid driver's license and ability to pass drug screen and background check.
• Maintains all tools, shops, vehicles and all work locations in a safe and efficient condition.
• Job will include travel to multiple site locations.
• Previous experience working in any type of industrial environment a plus.

Position Requirements Previous work experience in commercial or utility scale Solar Power Generation:

• High school Diploma/GED.
• Willing/able to work flexible schedule with overtime, weekends and holidays.
• Candidate must possess the ability to communicate orally and in writing and the ability to work without direct supervision during performance of work.
• Strong attention to safety and detail.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass drug screen and background check.
