Position Overview
 
BuildingGreen is seeking an experienced writer and editor who also has experience in architecture or a related field. This is a full-time position. 
 
Responsibilities 
 
  • Write thoroughly researched, technically correct, engaging blog posts and articles for BuildingGreen.com and LEEDuser.com
  • Respond intelligently and appropriately to reader comments
  • Edit and proofread our publications and custom reports
  • Use a Drupal content management platform to edit and publish articles and blog posts
  • Support building product vetting as part of our BuildingGreen Approved program
  • Support our social media efforts

Qualifications 

Required 

  • Great writing (we’ll be testing your writing and editing skills as part of the application process)
  • Two years of experience as a professional writer
  • Ability to leverage constructive editorial feedback to improve your writing
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback to others
  • Solid proofreading skills
  • Knowledge of sustainability issues in the built environment
  • Comfort with reading and interpreting scientific papers, plus an ability to translate them into everyday language
  • We hate the phrase “team player,” but you get it, right?


Desired
 

  • LEED AP or Green Associate credential
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • 2 years of experience in a design or construction firm
  • Ability to work full-time at our Brattleboro, Vermont office
  • An open mind, full of questions—and preferably laced with just a hint of iconoclasm
  • Training in architecture or a related field
