~ The Washington Wildlife and Recreation
Coalition
(WWRC) is a nonprofit citizen’s group that leverages public funds for
local and state parks, wildlife habitat and farmland preservation. ~

The Coalition was founded in 1989 through a
bi-partisan effort by former Governors Dan Evans and Mike Lowery on the belief
that by bringing together organizations and agencies dedicated to preserving
and growing outdoor recreational opportunities in Washington state, more
funding could be secured collectively for outdoor advocacy than with each
organization working alone.

Today, the Coalition is made up of a group
of 280 member
organizations
and state
agencies
representing conservation, business, recreation, hunting, fishing,
farming and community interests.

Position Overview

The Opportunity

  • WWRC seeks an energetic and
passionate individual to represent the diverse group of members that make up
the Coalition. The Executive Director (ED) will have the opportunity to work
with a large Board of Directors, and lead a talented group of staff members in
their efforts to acquire funding from, and advocate support for, the WWRP and
    LWCF.
  • The ED must be highly organized,
decisive, energetic, and able to effectively prioritize and delegate. In
addition, the WWRC is a non-partisan organization and the ED must be equally
adept at working with elected officials, agency leaders, policy makers and
funders at every point along the political spectrum.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required,
and an advanced degree such as an MPA, MBA, Master’s in Non-Profit Leadership,
Master’s in Public Policy, or a JD is preferred.
  • The competitive candidate will
possess 5 to 7 years of experience leading a non-profit organization of similar
or larger size, or in a division, department, or program of significant size
and visibility, preferably in the conservation, outdoor recreation, parks
development, ecology, or habitat preservation fields with a focus on policy
level work or within the public/governmental sector.
  • He or she must demonstrate
expertise in budgeting and financial management, fundraising, government
relations, lobbying, strategic planning and implementation, and community and
    public relations.

To Be Considered

  • All candidates are encouraged to apply online. Please click below: "Apply Here!"
  • Along with your resume, please submit a
carefully crafted one to two-page cover letter to Ed Rogan that 1) describes
the parallels between your background and skill set and the requirements of the
position, and 2) articulates your personal alignment with the mission of WWRC.
