~ OEC Inc. is a Chicago-based nonprofit start-up that has piloted a new international program for improving the environmental performance of existing buildings in the areas of energy, waste, water and operations. ~ 

OEC Inc. is seeking a Program Manager to administer the beta version of a new green building improvement program. The position requires supporting program participants in all elements of the beta program, as well as supporting the continuous development and market deployment of the program.

The successful candidate will work closely with the organization's Board. The position is full-time, though we will consider part-time applicants under some circumstances.  

Responsibilities  

Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Managing relationships with beta users including building owners, managers, and service providers as well as potential beta users and interested third parties
  • Developing technical guidance materials for users including analytical tools, programmatic guidance, case studies, and other implementation tools
  • Guiding beta users through successful program implementation and providing technical advice, direction, and insight to facilitate that implementation
  • Gathering and synthesizing feedback from beta users to refine and improve the program over time 

Qualifications 

Candidates for this position must have: 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years experience with program or project management with direct interaction with users
  • Experience managing long-term projects with multiple deadlines
  • Experience in sustainable buildings, working with building operators and commercial real estate firms
  • Demonstrated excellent writing skills, both technical and non-technical, for professional publications and user guide materials
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly working with a variety of subject matter experts 
  • A record of successfully working independently without extensive oversight 

The successful candidate will also likely have: 

  • A working understanding of rating systems, benchmarking tools, and similar programs as they relate to sustainability and/or building management
  • Technical experience in one or more of the following areas: energy efficiency, water efficiency, waste management, sustainable purchasing, transportation, or related fields
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse professional clientele and cultivating/maintaining those relationships successfully
  • A working understanding of commercial and/or institutional real estate management practices
