Description

~ The Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) is an award-winning consortium of efficiency program administrators from the United States and Canada that unifies program approaches across jurisdictions to increase impact in fragmented markets. ~

By joining forces at CEE, individual electric and gas efficiency programs are able to partner not only with each other, but also with other industries, trade associations, and government agencies. Working together, administrators leverage the effect of their ratepayer funding, exchange information on successful practices and, by doing so, achieve greater energy efficiency for the public good. CEE is a 501c(3) organization.

Position Overview

The Consortium for Energy Efficiency is seeking an experienced individual to join the residential sector team. The successful candidate will play an integral role in achieving residential-focused energy savings goals related to the CEE Residential Heating and Cooling Systems and Consumer Electronics Initiatives.

Key responsibilities include managing the Residential HVAC and Consumer Electronics Committees, among other exploratory pursuits within the residential sector. The individual will report to the Principal Program Manager for the Residential Sector and work cooperatively with other staff on cross-functional efforts.

General Requirements

CEE is seeking an enthusiastic individual to lead committees of electric and gas efficiency program managers seeking to achieve greater savings from program approaches that leverage highly efficient space heating and air conditioning equipment and systems.

The individual hired will also collaborate on other residential sector work, including CEE's whole house and ‘connected' work, so an ability to draw upon a breadth of understanding of energy efficiency in the residential setting will be beneficial.

In addition, the Program Manager will critically review secondary research on energy efficient technologies, frame market and technical concepts for consideration by CEE committees, conduct technical analysis as needed, and may produce white papers or other materials that summarize energy savings, market potential, supply chain barriers, and opportunities. The Program Manager will work with the relevant CEE committees to develop recommendations for consideration by CEE's Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating regular committee meetings of utility, government, advocate and other stakeholders via teleconference, in-person, and CEE's online extranet website
  • Building consensus among CEE members and other stakeholders on strategies and approaches to accelerate market acceptance of energy efficient products and services
  • Assessing current market conditions and evolving energy savings opportunities
  • Supporting stakeholder organizations in incorporating recommended approaches into their local program efforts
  • Writing professional papers, initiative descriptions, program guides and meeting notes in support of Initiative Goals
  • Monitoring relevant technology, market, policy, and other industry developments
  • Building and maintaining alliances with key market players (e.g. manufacturers, distributors, trade associations, etc.)
  • Recommending strategies for affecting national markets for energy efficient products
  • Representing CEE in public settings
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • A graduate degree, or undergraduate degree with equivalent experience (e.g., BA/BS including graduate coursework, honors thesis, or applicable employment experience) in a relevant field (economics, engineering, marketing) is preferred
  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience in a professional work environment (residential energy efficiency experience will be advantageous and is preferred, but not required)
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, including ability to speak publicly and effectively lead both small and large groups in pursuit of joint objectives
  • Demonstrated project management effectiveness
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (at varying levels of sophistication)
  • Ability to understand market motivations and dynamics
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize quantitative information for different audiences
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work constructively with individuals of varied experience levels and personalities to achieve consensus
  • Ability to manage workload across multiple projects, manage project timelines, and to work independently
  • Willingness to travel domestically (averaging approximately 1 trip per quarter)
  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Office software

Note: You must be eligible to work in the United States independent of company sponsorship.

Compensation: Salary commensurate with skills and experience. CEE offers a competitive benefits package.
