Founded in 1947 and headquartered on a farm and wildlife center in Brewster, NY, with a second campus in Carmel, NY, Green Chimneys is recognized as a worldwide leader in animal-assisted therapy and educational activities for children with special needs.
Green Chimneys services include an accredited special education school on two campuses; residential treatment center; nature-based therapeutic programs; community-based support for youth and families; and public education and recreation opportunities for people of all ages.
Position Overview
Green Chimneys is seeking several Resident Seasonal Educators for our Clearpool Campus in Carmel, NY!
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead various groups in adventure/nature based activities (i.e. teambuilding activities, low/high rope challenges, interpretive hikes, and ecology based programs.)
- Staffing/coordinating evening programs when needed.
- Program coordination with resident educators.
- Upkeep of program materials/program areas.
- Assist with special with special programs/events.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Education, Science, Biology, or related field preferred.
- Must be able to work outdoors and have a familiarity in outdoor recreation and natural sciences as well as previous experience working with diverse populations.
- CPR, Lifeguard, or Advanced Wilderness Training a plus!
Compensation: Staff will earn $320/week plus room/board and meals.
