~ NMR specializes in the design, implementation, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative marketing research and evaluation of energy efficiency and renewable energy programs. ~

Providing evaluation services for administrators; we help our clients not only evaluate these programs but also assess the complex markets in which the programs operate. 

We provide clients with the research-based information and insights needed to help them focus program efforts based on the realities of the market, to measure the impacts of energy-efficiency and renewable energy programs, and to provide strategic guidance for improving program design and delivery.

Position Overview 

NMR is currently seeking candidates for a Research Associate II position. The position is located in NMR’s office in Davis Square in Somerville, Massachusetts. Efficiency and renewables are burgeoning fields providing excellent career opportunities for social scientists. 

We're seeking to hire individuals possessing the knowledge, skills, and abilities typically gained through master’s level graduate education or prior work in policy, economics, sociology, or other social science programs. 

Responsibilities 

These include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Designing, implementing, and analyzing survey data.
  • Conducting semi-structured interviews. 
  • Performing descriptive quantitative analyses using SPSS or similar data analysis packages.
  • Writing clear and concise research summaries, memoranda, and reports.
  • In-field data collection including: conducting energy audits, customer intercepts, mystery shopping, and shelf stocking surveys. 
Travel: 
  • This position may require individuals to travel to complete in-field inspections or surveys in residential and commercial settings.
  • Field work may require employees to travel up to 25% of the time. 
Qualfications  
  • We prefer candidates with experience addressing energy-related concerns, and also candidates who understand the principles and practices of program evaluation. 
  • However, NMR will consider candidates with relevant skills and expertise gained in other fields. 
  • Prior energy auditing experience and certification (HERS or BPI) is a plus. 
  • The ideal candidate has recently completed or will soon complete a Master’s degree in policy, economics, sociology, or another social science field. 
  • We will also consider candidates with Bachelor’s degrees who have relevant work experience. 
  • Successful employees should have strong expectations of rapid advancement in this growing company and field.
