Description
~ Environmental Traveling Companions (ETC) is a nonprofit organization that has been providing outdoor adventures and environmental education programs for people with disabilities and economically disadvantaged youth for over 40 years. ~
ETC's sea kayaking, whitewater rafting, cross country skiing and youth leadership programs annually enable over 2,300 people with special needs to enjoy the beauty, challenge and inspiration of educational outdoor adventures.
Position Overview
The Development Manager (DM) will secure philanthropic resources to fuel ETC's mission, program growth and impact. They will have at least two to three years of successful nonprofit fundraising experience including: researching, writing and securing foundation and government grants; major gifts and donor solicitation; and event planning.
The DM reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Board of Directors to build relationships and inspire a network of supporters to invest in ETC. The DM will have the following key competencies and mindsets:

Responsibilities
- Research and write grant proposals and reports.
- Cultivate ETC's individual donor base including major gifts, annual appeals, acknowledgements, and special donor events.
- Provide leadership for identifying new funding sources.
- Collaborate with ETC's Fundraising Committee to organize and grow our annual Make a Ripple Gala and oversee other major donor development.
- Spearhead the creation of a Legacy Giving Program.
- Manage ETC's donor database.
- Invest in strategic thinking and long-term planning.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A proven track record in individual donor development and grant writing (at least 2-3 years experience.)
- Experience with donor database management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, FileMaker Pro and Salesforce.
- Must be highly organized, self-motivated, flexible and possess a high level of personal integrity.
- Knowledge of San Francisco Bay Area philanthropic community is desirable.
- Enthusiasm for outdoor adventure and environmental education programming.
- Knowledge of special populations is a plus.
- Desire to forward ETC's mission and program growth.
Compensation: DOE; Full-time with excellent benefits package including health, dental, and generous retirement plan.
