Description

~ Everyday Green works with clients to properly design, specify, and
effectively install green building measures. ~

Everyday Green works primarily with residential space types including
new and existing single-family, multi-family and mixed-use properties. Everyday
Green provides third-party testing and verification services for multiple green
home programs including LEED for Homes, Enterprise Green Communities, the
National Green Building Standard, and ENERGY STAR for New Homes.

Position Overview 

The communications intern, a paid position, will work with the Sustainability
Coordinator to develop and maintain Everyday Green's marketing and
communications strategies. This internship is an exceptional opportunity to
gain professional office experience and transferable skills while working for a
reputable small business.

Overall responsibilities will include assisting with
website content, writing blog posts and project profiles, assisting with
internal processes, and contributing to the green building certification
process. This opportunity is ideal for
someone interested in sustainability, building science, and communications.

Desired internship duration is a 6 month commitment with a minimum of 15- 20 hours per week. Flexible scheduling available and full-time position possible for qualified candidates.   

Duties will include:

  • Updating content on Everyday Green website and internal documents
  • Communicating project
    successes and Everyday Green services through blog posts and other marketing
    techniques
  • Managing SEO and web analytics to determine best practices
    and maximize usefulness of the site
  • Reviewing and
    organizing certification documentation for various green building programs
  • Proof reading materials produced by team members for proper
    punctuation, usage, and appearance
  • Supporting Everyday
    Green participation in workshops and green building conferences
  • Helping with the
    development of internal project organization and process
  • Coordination of photo library

Qualifications 

  • Completed or pursuing a degree in communications, marketing,
    public relations, education, organizational sustainability or related field
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Self-directed with the ability to work on multiple projects
    simultaneously
  • Ability to comprehend complex ideas and communicate them in
    an understandable way
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a friendly team-player
    attitude
  • Environmentally minded with a commitment to sustainability
  • Familiarity or experience with building science or green
    building certifications is a plus
  • Knowledge of HTML, website content management programs and graphic
    design is a plus
