Description

~ The California League of Conservation Voters is the political arm of California's environmental community ~

Now in its 41st year, California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) is a leader in the environmental movement both in California and around the nation. CLCV is distinguished for its political influence: we support environmental candidates for state public office, track legislative activity, and implement environmental policy reform programs.

Our Annual Environmental Scorecard is the authoritative source on environmental actions of the state electorate. In addition to an annual budget of $5 million, CLCV raises funds for political campaigns and PACs. CLCV is a mature and growing organization with a current membership of 50,000.

Position Overview

CLCV is seeking a Campaign Finance Reform Program Manager to work with the Communications Director on a new program engaging the public on the corrupting influence of polluter (e.g.: oil and coal) money in our political system, and managing up to five field organizers in California Congressional districts.

The program manager will help implement a program that mobilizes voters to take action and hold accountable members of Congress who fail to respond to constituents' concerns about the negative influence of corporate money in politics.

The program manager will manage up to five field organizers who will amplify the message and mobilize voters in specific Congressional districts around the "price we all pay" when citizen voices are drowned out by the voices of corporate donors.

This is a 4-month, temporary, full-time position starting July 21, 2014 and ending no later than November 15, 2014.

Primary Responsibilities

The Program Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of a 4-month program that draws attention to the negative role big money plays in our political system, especially regarding the negative outcomes for environmental protection and public health.

The Program Manager will work closely with the CLCV Communications and Political Departments, and with staff at the national League of Conservation Voters to engage the public and specific members of Congress and their staff on concerns surrounding the negative influence of money in politics.

  • Developing content for social media campaigns.

  • Working with vendors.
  • Attending occasional events on nights and weekends.
  • Assisting in the generation of reports on the progress of these projects.
  • Assisting Communications Director with other projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
