Position Overview
Greenpeace's Development Department is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Membership Intern to assist the Supporter Care team and the Retention team. The position is avaiable in the Fall 2014.
The Greenpeace Retention team is responsible for the design and implementation of tests for new fundraising methods and techniques. The goal of the team is to dramatically increase the resources for Greenpeace campaigns by finding new methods and improvements on current methods of fundraising.
- Tests are designed by reviewing and analyzing data and then designing tests based off of perceived location of possible gains.
- Tests can involve everything from small changes to existing programs to the creation of large new programs.
- Tests require the ability to navigate through complex sets of data, the completion of repetitive tasks, the creativity to come up with ideas that have not been thought of before and the managing of relationships with multiple people in different departments.
The Supporter Care team handles incoming phone, email and letter correspondence from our donors, supporters, and the general public. The Supporter Care team also assists in the Development Department's fundraising objectives, especially the priority of donor retention.
Feeding back information about Greenpeace and its activities back to the broader organization is also an important role of the Supporter Care team.
Internship Responsibilities
- The Membership Intern will assist and manage the design, creation, implementation and analysis of tests within fundraising.
- The goal of the position is to assist the Retention team in discovering new methods and improvements to existing programs in order to provide greater resources to Greenpeace campaigns.
- The Membership Intern will also assist the Supporter Care team in daily operations, as well as work on projects to increase efficiency and donor engagement.
Qualifications
- Proven customer service skills.
- Comfortable taking and making phone calls.
- Self confidence, positive attitude and a willingness to try new things.
- Ability to work as an individual and within small groups.
- Strong skills in math and creative thinking to come up with new and innovative ideas.
- Interest in fundraising for non-profit organizations.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office, specifically in Excel.
- Commitment to Greenpeace and an interest in environmental advocacy and non-violent direct action.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Sense of humor.
- Applicants must be over 18, but do not have to be current students.

Program Details
- Our fall internships start September 8th and end December 5th. Part time and full time positions available.
- Each intern is trained and closely supervised by a member of the department to which they've been assigned.
- We are flexible with your schedule and can help you receive class credit.
- All internships are unpaid. Unfortunately Greenpeace cannot provide travel or housing.
