Small Business Loan Associate

Position Overview 

We are looking for a Small Business Loan Associate to work with micro and small businesses. The person takes initiative, is detail-oriented, and is interested in helping micro-entrepreneurs and small businesses. This is a part-time position located at our headquarters in the South of Market, with some work from our satellite office in the Fillmore.

Responsibilities

Intake / Screening 

• Interview/screen potential borrowers analyzing their business and credit needs
• Guide borrowers through the loan application process including explaining necessary forms, reviewing documents, and editing business plans as needed
• Review business financials to assess cash flow and ability to repay
• Match borrowers to potential lenders based on assessment
• Present loan recommendations for approval

Loan Packaging 

• Collect required documents and submit to lender
• Manage client relationship with lender to increase successful loan outcomes for potential borrower and to ensure program loan goals are achieved
• Help client create cash flow projections where needed
• Provide Post Loan Technical Assistance as needed 

Business Referrals

• Make client referrals to other community service and training programs as needed
• Identify affordable marketing, financial and legal experts to assist borrowers in the operation of their business 

Marketing / Outreach 

• Generate new leads through referrals from existing borrowers, banks, and other service providers
• Distribute flyers, and other direct mail campaigns as needed
• Site visits to businesses to market new and on-going products and services
• Perform other outreach activity as necessary
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Small Business Services

Qualifications 

• Understanding of basic small business development
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to multi-task
• Detail oriented
• Good Communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or related field
