Bristol Community College is a fully-accredited college located on a modern 105 acre campus in northeastern Fall River, Massachusetts. Founded in 1965, the College first opened its doors in 1966. More than 9,000 day and evening students now attend classes each year.

Position Overview:
The College is seeking a committed, innovative and energetic Instructor of Engineering Technology within the Division of Mathematics, Science, and Engineering. This instructor will be responsible for: (1) teaching courses in concentrated in the electrical/electronic engineering and/or green technologies areas; (2) teaching classes in electrical engineering and/or courses in solar, wind or other forms of green energy; (3) acting as a faculty advisor to students; (4) representing the department in business/industrial relations; (5) assisting in the development of grant proposals related to the Engineering and technology programs.
This is a full-time, tenure track, MCCC/MTA unit position with benefits with a start date in the fall semester.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a full-time teaching schedule including theory and hands-on practical laboratory sections;
- Teaching responsibilities can include assignments at the Fall River, New Bedford and/or Attleboro campuses as needed;
- Prepare syllabi and develop curricula to address course and program student learning outcomes and General Education competencies as appropriate;
- Develop and deliver online and hybrid coursework supporting the engineering and green technology programs, serve as academic advisor to students; post and maintain a minimum of four (4) office hours per week;
- Serve on College committees as elected or appointed;
- Attend Division, Department, and Committee meetings;
- Recommend to the Engineering and Green Technology Department Chair suitable instructional material, textbooks, and library acquisitions;
- Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes;
- Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate;
- Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in the discipline and in the classroom; and
- Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or closely related field.
Preferred QualificationSTARTING DATE: Fall Semester 2013s
- Teaching experience at the college level, preferably at a community college;
- Knowledge of quality control and total quality management practices, knowledge of engineering project management skills and practices, knowledge of the integration of sustainability practices within engineering applications, demonstrable use of materials and assignments designed to improve the writing and critical thinking skills of studentSTARTING DATE: Fall Semester 2013s;
- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to promote and evaluate student learning;
- Willingness to explore alternative pedagogies such as service-learning, learning communities, and distance learning; and
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.
Compensation: Minimum salary $41,470.00 to $92,555.00 - actual salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
