Position Overview:

Located in McLean, Virginia, WGESystems is seeking a self-motivated Senior Accountant, who shares in our vision to make an immediate impact on our organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer of WGESystems, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for: the accounting of projects, specifically solar assets; general accounting and reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities:

Project Accounting:

  • Manage the tracking of financial status of subcontractor costs and payments and A/R aging reports.
  • Analyze allocation of labor costs to projects and other reports for project managers. Assist project managers with account aspects of projects to include change order recording, project execution and closeout.
  • Code and process subcontractor and vendor invoices.
  • Manage commercial solar business A/P and A/R assets.
  • Review, analyze and distribute budget sheets and forecasts associated with construction and solar projects.
  • Collaboratively work with other departments on financing for federal construction and/or commercial distributed generation projects.

General Accounting and Financial Reporting:

  • Provide information on WGESystems SG&A and supplier diversity expenditure report.
  • Work with Chief Operating Officer to learn and take on budgeting tasks and responsibilities.
  • Prepare disclosure information and supporting documentation in support of Parent Company SEC filings and other external financial reports.
  • Recommend process improvements, controls and updates to improve accounting efficiency.

Financial Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate financial documents, records and certificates of insurance.
  • Establish, communicate and maintain procedures and policies to ensure company financial compliance for solar assets.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual external and internal audits and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Qualifications:

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA preferred.
  • 5 years accounting or finance experience preferably in a project support role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Understanding of GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
