Established in 2000, Model Forest Policy Program (MFPP) is a national nonprofit organization that advocates for forest policies and practices that restore and sustain healthy productive forests, clean and abundant water supplies, and economically thriving climate-resilient communities. Through our flagship program, Climate Solutions University: Forest and Water Strategies (CSU), we provide training, expertise, and support to rural U.S. communities engaged in climate adaptation planning.
Position Overview:
To further develop, expand, evaluate, strengthen, and coordinate MFPP's rapidly growing Implementation Program. We seek a self-directed, creative individual to work virtually with CSU Communities, MFPP staff, consultants, and partners to create a program that meets the implementation needs of our CSU Communities. The overall goals of the position are:
- to oversee and expand the Implementation Program which provides critical support to communities as they translate their climate adaptation (and mitigation) planning into on-the-ground, concrete results;
- to provide networking opportunities and exchange of expertise and experiences among the communities; and
- to generate revenue from the program for MFPP.
Qualifications:
- Professional skills in group facilitation, group process, and designing effective group interaction.
- Expert in strategic planning, project management, and the transition from planning to quantitative and qualitative, on-the-ground results.
- Expert in capacity building and leadership development.
- Strong verbal communication skills and compelling phone presence.
- Experience working virtually [remotely] on team projects.
- Experience in education.
- Passion for the environment, (in particular sustainable forest management, water protection) and familiarity with climate change issues and solutions. A background in land use policy, forests, and water is strongly encouraged. The person understands and articulates the social, ecological, and economics of the above.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills and ability to easily connect and engage with people.
- Self-motivated and a self-starter, able to work with little direct supervision.
- Impeccable organizational skills - highly focused, detailed oriented, capable of multi-tasking and meeting strict deadlines.
- Superior writing and analytical skills. Able to assess complexities and create new ideas.
- Enthusiastic, a team player, and a sense of humor.
- High degree of professionalism and discretion, and high standards for excellence in execution.
- Proficiency in using various types of Web platforms and other e-technical systems and programs such as Go-To-Meeting, Webinar Hosting, Word, Excel.
