Description
GASP is new, non-profit, advocacy organization with highly motivated volunteers and board members. We need a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to work with us and lead us as we reduce Alabama's air pollution and improve the public's health. GASP has solid partnerships with local and regional advocacy organizations. It is likely that our new Executive Director will quickly have the opportunity to grow the staff and capacity of GASP.
Our initial focus is the greater Birmingham community because it is suffering with some of the dirtiest air in the country. Coal fired power plants are a primary source of that pollution.

The Executive Director's job will include ensuring the organization's achievement of its mission and financial objectives, leading staff and volunteers, overseeing advocacy campaigns, implementation of programs, and public policy initiatives.
Supervisor: Board of Directors
Qualifications:
We prefer that candidates have a college degree, excellent writing and communications skills, fundraising experience with foundations and individuals, experience running an organization, executing advocacy related campaigns and managing staff. Working knowledge of the Clean Air Act, the public health implications of air pollution, and energy issues is desired.
Must be self-motivated and possess the ability to manage resources, supervise staff and volunteers, and work cooperatively and productively on a variety of diverse projects in a dynamic non-profit and advocacy environment. The ideal candidate will be personable, creative, independent, well-organized, hard-working, dedicated, reliable, and passionate about GASP's mission and unique advocacy-oriented model. We place an emphasis on teamwork.
Compensation: Based on non-profit scale; commensurate with qualifications and experience. Hours: Full-time (minimum 40 hours/week). The Director must be able to maintain a flexible schedule to work longer hours when needed.
