A Better City's Transportation Management Association (ABC TMA) provides Transportation Demand Management (TDM) services to businesses, institutions, and buildings located in Boston's downtown and Back Bay neighborhoods. ABC TMA has provided TDM services in the form of commuter option programing for over 15 years; currently serving 85,000 commuters and residents.
Position Overview:
Preferred Candidate: Graduate student in marketing/communications or in transportation planning, looking to gain experience with marketing and research to improve our effectiveness in communicating with employees/tenants and engaging them to participate in our programs and adopt sustainable transportation behaviors.
The intern should be familiar with all social media outlets and be able to organize logistics for events during the summer. The intern will also be integral in our efforts to expand our services in 4 new neighborhoods including: Kenmore, Fenway, Allston, and Brighton and customizing services for an area not well-served by public transportation.
Responsibilities:
The TMA Summer Intern shall be responsible for the following activities:
- Research similar agencies and gather best practices on engagement as they relate to messaging, promotions, and events that have the most success in changing commuting mode behavior
- Develop frameworks for new programs, events, and initiatives based on research of similar agencies
- Conduct research on corporate health and wellness programs and identify opportunities for incorporating TMA initiatives
- Create, administer, and analyze surveys for participants in TMA programs
- Assist in organizing and attend events during the summer
- Performing administrative duties as necessary
Qualifications:
Required Skills:
- Adept at social marketing methods
- Researching methods including surveys
- Ability to think creatively and thoroughly develop and present ideas

- Familiarity with Transportation Demand Management techniques
Compensation: 20 hours a week at $10 per hour (max 200 hours)
Start date: June 11th
End date: August 15st
