Description
Iowa State University seeks an accomplished director for the Iowa Energy Center to provide and facilitate dynamic and strategic science, engineering and technical research and lead in the development of progressive and responsive programs with respect to alternative energy and energy conservation.
The Iowa Energy Center was established at Iowa State by the State of Iowa in 1990 to support research, demonstration, and education aimed at decreasing the state's dependence on fossil fuels. The center has developed nationally recognized research facilities and programs in building controls and biomass energy conversion and sponsored a multitude of research, demonstration and education projects.
The center takes advantage of Iowa State's strong interdisciplinary and collaborative culture and works with departments and centers campus-wide on sponsored projects pertaining to energy efficiency and renewable energy. The center also facilitates research projects and applied research at its Energy Resource Station and Biomass Energy Conversion Facility (BECON).
The Iowa Energy Center also collaborates with Iowa State University (lead), University of Iowa, and University of Northern Iowa on a National Science Foundation $20 million, five-year Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitve Research (EPSCoR) grant to build the state's research capacity in renewable energy and energy efficiency.
