The company invests opportunistically across the capital structure, at the project level, in a wide range of commercially proven renewable energy technologies. Through our established global network, the company secures unique opportunities for investors while providing project developers with custom financial structures. We specialize in providing senior secured, convertible and mezzanine debt and preferred equity financing solutions with a focus on risk mitigation. Our clients include leading renewable energy companies in North America, project developers, institutional and private investors.

Position Overview:

Our firm is seeking an Associate to join its investment team. The role of the Associate is to support the overall investment process and to assist the Directors in the execution of the investment plan. The Associate will be given a great deal of responsibility and autonomy and is exposed to a wide variety of transaction types. The culture is highly meritocratic and collegial. We will consider full time as well as part time applicants.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research, analyze and evaluate a combination of industry, investment environment, security selection and valuation analysis for new and existing investment opportunities
  • Prepare financial models, management reviews, industry overviews, expected return scenarios, and present findings to senior personnel
  • Perform due diligence in evaluating new and existing investment opportunities, including past performance, quality of the management team, and evaluating the expected investment merits and risks
  • Contribute to the investment decision-making process and provides support to senior personnel regarding considered investment opportunities
  • Participate in the ongoing management and monitoring of both the financial and administrative aspects of portfolio investments
  • Liaise with portfolio company and external third parties, including lawyers, accountants, management consultants, and investment bankers
  • Prepare and undertake additional projects as required or assigned

Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years of experience: Experience should be in investment banking or management consulting experience. For candidates with more than 2 years of work experience, traditional private equity experience is highly valued. Transaction experience is required.
  • Pre-MBA and Post-MBA will be considered but please do not apply if you have more than 6-7 years of total work.
  • Exceptionally strong technical skills. Must know how to build financial models.
  • Prefer Finance/Economics major and expect strong academic credentials.
  • Must be mature, proactive, able to work in unstructured environment, demonstrate leadership capability.
  • Very strong communication skills - written and verbal.
  • Critical thinking ability.
  • Team fit: outgoing, confidant, team player, flexible.
  • Willingness to travel.
