Description

Mercury Solar Systems, Inc., a leading solar system installation business, is seeking a Solar Design Engineer to join its team in its Port Chester, NY office.

Responsibilities:

  • Design or coordinate design of photovoltaic (PV) systems including physical layouts, and system components for residential and commercial buildings.
  • Create electrical single-line diagrams, panel schedules, or connection diagrams for solar electric systems using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Conduct engineering site audits to collect structural, electrical, and related site information for use in the design of residential or commercial solar power systems.
  • Create plans for solar energy system development, monitoring, and evaluation activities.
  • Perform computer simulation of solar photovoltaic (PV) generation system performance or energy production to optimize efficiency.
  • Provide technical direction or support to installation teams during installation, start-up, testing, system commissioning, or performance monitoring.  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; master's degree a plus.
  • Engineering experience or internship in power generation, environmental, or related field with recent focus in solar technologies a plus.
  • 2+ years of work experience in providing project engineering for utility scale Solar PV projects is highly desirable.
  • Well-developed project management skills.
  • Good interpersonal, written, analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and assist in all aspects of development with a positive attitude.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to work well in a relatively unstructured work environment with little supervision.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated high achiever with ability to multi-task, commitment to producing high-quality work; and ability to perform duties in a collaborative working environment.
  • Ability to travel and work overtime on short notice.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and AutoCAD and proven ability to learn new software programs.
  • Ability to communicate highly technical topics in a manner which can be understood by others needing input to make decisions.
