The Global Development and Environment Institute (GDAE), affiliated with the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, is an interdisciplinary research institute dedicated to improving economic theory, education, and policies. GDAE pursues its mission through original research, policy work, publication projects, curriculum development, conferences and other activities.

Position Overview:

The Outreach Coordinator will manage all aspects of the institute's communications work, including: overall communications strategy; web management; email promotion; media outreach and tracking; weblog coordination; outreach coordination for events; development of promotional materials and publications; multimedia production and management; "new media" development; and evaluation.

This is a part-time position at 28 hours per week (80% time), with the specific hours to be determined with the supervisor. This is also a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 years of related experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word). Experience with: Access or other contact database applications; Dreamweaver or other web management software; WordPress or other weblog software; basic computer-based video editing; basic publications design; "new media" (e.g. Facebook).
  • Experience in managing multiple projects. Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, customer service and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in either a content area relevant to GDAE's work or in a relevant field of communications.
  • Familiarity with content of GDAE's general areas of work, especially economics, international development, and the environment.
  • Spanish and/or Portuguese language proficiency.
  • More than 2 years of related experience.
