Position Overview:
(AmeriCorps Position) Spend 8 months outdoors conserving natural resources, gain field experience and make a difference. Full-time commitment, Mon-Thurs, ages 18-25.
Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa is accepting applications for Northwest Field Crew members. Corpsmembers participate in the job training to learn natural resource management skills and put those skills into practice working on conservation projects across the upper Midwest.

Responsibilities:
Crew Members will work on a crew of 4 members, with 2 co-leaders who will work cooperatively to manage the crew. Crew Members will receive training and complete various conservation projects such as tree planting, prairie restoration, exotic species management, streambank stabilization, GPS/GIS mapping, wildlife surveys, carpentry/construction, timber stand improvement, lakeshore restoration, erosion control, prescribed burning, environmental education, trail construction & maintenance, wildlife habitat improvement, wildland fire fighting and emergency response.
Northwest crews typically spike for roughly 3 weeks each month making up about 80% of total projects. Out-of-town spike projects range from 5 - 12 days.

Qualifications:
Crew Members
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse conditions and on challenging terrain.
- Ability to work well with others in a team setting.
- Strong desire to learn new skills.
- Positive attitude.
- Interest in service and community work.
- Sense of adventure.
Requirements:
Must be 18-25 years old and be able to perform essential functions of the job including physically strenuous work 40 hours per week. Typical work week is Monday-Thursday (10 hours each day) with other days scheduled as required. Crew Members and Leaders should be available for week-long out of town assignments that involve camping near the work project site. A full term of service must be completed in order to receive the education award. Personal protective equipment provided and required.
Compensation: Crew Members will receive a living stipend of $1155 a month, health insurance, student loan forbearance during the service term, and a post-service AmeriCorps Education Award of $2,775 that may be used for college expenses or to repay qualified student loans. Members will have the opportunity to explore career options within the environmental field.
