Position Overview:

Natural Capitalism Solutions is seeking a Business Development Manager to work with our team to support strategic and day-to-day business development activities.

Responsibilities:

Main job functions:

  • Identify prospects for corporate and governmental consulting work
  • Coordinate meetings with prospects, partners and staff
  • Qualify prospects by participating in meetings and phone calls. Identifying prospect needs, budget, timeline, etc.
  • Participate in internal meetings with project managers to refine project scope
  • Write and edit proposals for a variety of project types
  • Manage proposal templates and help streamline proposal writing process
  • Close sales, negotiate budgets and payment schedules
  • Recruit participants for educational programs
  • Develop plan for effectively engaging past and current clients to up-sell new offerings
  • Find and develop partnerships to support corporate, governmental and educational work
  • Assist in establishing NCS presence locally and nationally by identifying conference and speaking opportunities, as well as participating in local networking groups.
  • Develop marketing materials and proposal templates to streamline the sales process
  • Manage sales pipeline, including producing sales reports

Additional job functions:

  • Work with the team to identify strategic opportunities for new service offerings, and new markets for current offerings
  • Help the organization implement strategic plan to fulfill its mission while achieving financial success
  • Support project managers to ensure deliverables meet client expectations
  • Support team with planning for promotional events
  • Flexibility to support team in other functions as needed
  • 10-20% travel required

Qualifications:

Skills/Attributes Required:

  • Desire to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to move comfortably between strategic, analytic and logistical tasks on a daily basis
  • Flexibility with job role and ability to work effectively in a team
  • Self-motivated and driven to develop new prospects and close sales
  • Demonstrated passion for sustainability/environmental issues/corporate social responsibility
  • Strong time management skills and discipline to ensure time is spent wisely
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of recording and reporting on sales data (experience with SalesForce or similar and time management software a plus)
  • Strong presentation and communication skills required

Desired Experience and Background:

  • 3-5 years experience in sales or business development with professional services organization
  • Existing relevant contacts preferred
  • Previous experience in sustainability, environmental consulting or similar preferred
  • Bachelors degree in related field required, masters preferred
