ECOEQUITABLE Inc. is a non-profit, social enterprise that creates work for people with abilities in sewing, namely, women, immigrant & refugee, and disadvantaged workers.  EE makes promotional and fashion bags, yoga mat bags and other innovative products by recycling fabric from different sources in the city.  EE offers a repair and alterations service to people, and a fabric boutique.

We encourage our donors and other enterprises who support our mission to recuperate all available textile products in order to "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" materials that would otherwise go to the dump.

Position Overview:

EcoEquitable Inc. is seeking a dynamic individual with a business background to manage our office and lead our marketing efforts. The successful candidate will assume full responsibility for marketing and office management.

Permanent position; beginning January 2012.

Responsibilities:

Office Management:

  • Act as a spokesperson for the organization, and develop strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including current and potential clients, partners and vendors.
  • Administer the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow of the organization.
  • Deliver regular written and oral updates to the Board of Directors regarding programming and business activities.
  • Build and carry out a workplan which incorporates the goals and objectives of the strategic plan.
  • Provide program reports and evaluation updates to funders.
  • Recruit and manage general office volunteers as needed.
  • Assist in the completion of bag contracts as needed.

Marketing:

  • Conduct market research to identify target clients.
  • Contact and follow up sales enquiries by email, telephone, and personal visits.
  • Build client base, increase sales, and develop EcoEquitable brand awareness.
  • Manage social media marketing efforts (facebook, twitter, blog, website).
  • Chair monthly marketing committee meetings, and manage a team of marketing volunteers.

Qualifications:

  • Full commitment to the values and mission of EcoEquitable
  • Marketing / Business Administration degree or equivalent experience in all aspects of developing and maintaining marketing strategies to meet organizational objectives
  • Fluency in English and French strongly preferred
  • Energetic, self-driven, organized professional with a passion for social innovation and community building
  • Entrepreneurial attitude needed to thrive in a small, growing social enterprise
  • Customer focused with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and strategic marketing and business development skills
  • Advanced Proficiency in MS Office
  • Sewing knowledge an asset (repairs/alterations and sewing for production contracts)

Compensation:  Pay Rate $40,000 per year, pro-rated to 30 - 35 hours per week.
