The Campaign Specialist is an integral member of the USGBC Advocacy Department that works to drive the success of the green building industry through policy at the state, local and federal level.

Position Overview: 

The Campaign Specialist will be in charge of managing, coordinating, and organizing the resources of the USGBC, including the 79 chapters, 30,000 chapter members, and 330 local government members as they influence policy across the country. The Specialist will have primary responsibility for organizing chapter members and volunteers for advocacy at the local level and secondary responsibility at the state level. The Campaign Specialist will work closely with the Chapters Department as they work to build the capacity of the chapter organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the advocacy activities of the 79 chapters and provide strategic support to help achieve advocacy goals.
  • Generate new advocacy activities in target states and localities in coordination with local chapter.
  • Coordinate with USGBC's field consultants on opportunities for victories and chapter needs.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for USGBC national with elected members of local government and other local officials.
  • Develop new contacts and relationships with legislators, officials, and other decision makers.
  • Produce fact sheets, blogs, and other collateral on current initiatives
  • Coordinate with other regional building industry and environmental groups.

Qualifications:

Education Requirements/Preferences:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a related building industry, or environmental discipline; Master's degree preferred

Experience requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years professional experience related to campaigns and field organizing, campaign communications, or overall campaign management.

  • Strong experience in managing multiple projects and teams
  • Demonstrated track record in successful people management and proven ability to motivate others
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to anticipate complex issues and develop simple, effective solutions
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks and competing priorities
  • Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills including MS Office suite
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Passion for and commitment to USGBC mission
