Alphabet Energy is a cleantech company commercializing revolutionary thermoelectric semiconductors from top university research labs. Backed by leading investors and scientists in our field, we are the emerging leader in waste heat recovery technology focusing narrowly on lowering the cost of thermoelectrics in order to bring products to our customers at large scales. We have been awarded six government contracts, four awards from the Clean Tech Open, have raised both angel and venture capital, and were recently featured in TechCrunch, National Geographic, and Bloomberg.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an exceptionally talented and senior product manager who is driven about working with engineers and customers to build great products. You will work with our team to develop products that will improve energy efficiency throughout the world, and that are the first scalable and widely deployable thermoelectric generators. You will be responsible for executing their delivery to customers. You will interact extensively with both end-users and customers, and must have direct experience with both in heavy industrial businesses (not software or semiconductors).
The perfect candidate will be excited about rapid iteration, testing, and change, and have a rock star reputation and track record of delivering amazing products.
Responsibilities:
- Own the development of one or more Alphabet Energy product streams, from customer use case through detailed design, execution and after sales support.
- Responsible for customer experience through complete product lifecycle.
- Interact very closely with both customers and end users to define product requirements and ensure product-market fit.
- Project management of the product development process, accessing resources from the product engineering team.
- Advocate, expedite, lobby, fight, eat, sleep and breathe for your product and your customers!
Qualifications:
Requirements:
- A rock star in his or her field. A proven record of outstanding accomplishments.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years engineering experience in the metallurgical, process, heavy manufacturing, energy, aerospace or automotive industries.
- Minimum 5 years experience in product management for heavy industrial systems or related field.
- Experience leading teams and managing projects.
- Experience with lean methodologies, Steve Blank's Customer Development, and Eric Ries' Lean Startup approach.
- Strong communicator, team-player, proven leader, highly energetic and adaptable, entrepreneurial mindset, can-do attitude, fast learner.
- Again, uncanny communication skills, ability to learn, and accept and incorporate feedback into new product designs.
- You have nightmares about being the one who develops the next Segway, and admire your iPod.
An ideal candidate would also have:
- Higher degrees in business, engineering, project management or similar.
- Experience with waste heat recovery technology and projects.
- Experience with thermoelectric materials, Peltier devices or other energy conversion materials.
- Familiarity with "Customer Development" methodologies.
- Higher degree (Masters, Ph.D., or equivalent) from a top university.
You must be enthusiastic about trying to impact the world through technology and business innovation.
Most importantly, you must be an individual who recognizes the importance of execution and product market fit over technology performance, and enthusiastic about joining a rapidly changing environment at a startup geared for growth.
