PRO*ACT is America's leading distributor of fresh produce to the foodservice industry sourcing from premier national and regional farmers. PRO*ACT streamlines the produce supply chain, offering significant cost benefits and an easy, one-call solution to source the freshest produce for more than 70 third-party inspected, independently owned, local distribution centers across the United States and Canada. PRO*ACT provides category cost management through commodity contract pricing, in-house consultation services and integrated produce program distribution management.
Position Overview:
PRO*ACT‘s Sustainability initiative has 2 primary goals:
- to create and commit to continuous sustainability improvements at each touch point in the produce supply chain, and
- to ensure the availability and safety of local produce for operators in all segments.
The appropriate candidate will work closely with senior staff to coordinate the design, implementation, and evaluation of all aspects of program delivery including outreach, sourcing, measurements and enrollment. The position requires a creative thinker with strong project management and leadership qualities including the ability to
inform strategy, excellent client management skills, attention to detail,
flexibility, initiative and enthusiasm.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with all levels of the supply chain to enhance and further develop the sustainability initiative
- Support existing relationships to increase and deepen their engagement in the program
- Client visits and staff training on the benefits of the sustainability initiative
- Develop and implement tools for measuring efforts, company targets and emerging opportunities
- Develop strategic sourcing opportunities
- Cultivate new business relationships and support the recruitment of businesses to the sustainability initiative
- Attend selected tradeshows/events
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree required
- 3-5 years of work experience in a relevant field, including conservation, industry procurement, social responsibility or experience with similar sustainability initiatives and/or organizations. Produce industry experience a plus but not a requirement.
- A working knowledge of sustainability metrics and impact assessments a plus but not a requirement
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Strong oral and written communication skills; Proven ability to relate to all types of people and build relationships with them through communication using a variety of mediums; comfortable speaking to small and large groups in a public setting
- Strong commitment to customer service and building and maintaining strong relationships with all parties of the supply
chain - High degree of organization skills including the
ability to manage multiple priorities - Strong attention to detail, flexible and reliable
- Commitment to conservation, sustainable livelihoods and the mission of PRO*ACT ‘s Sustainability initiative
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 10 times per year - or as need requires
- Willingness to enroll in company-funded educational programs, if needed
