EarthCraft Virginia, a nonprofit environmental organization that promotes healthy comfortable homes that reduce utility bills and protect the environment, seeks applications for an EarthCraft LEED for Homes Associate. Responsibilities:

The LEED for Homes Associate will perform a variety of functions with respect to the administration of the LEED for Homes program under the Providership of EarthCraft Virginia. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Acting as a Green Rater for projects pursuing certification
  • Reviewing project team submittals for compliance with the intent of the LEED for Homes Rating System guidelines and criteria.
  • Performing energy models using REM/Rate software
  • Compiling certification packets for submittal to USGBC
  • Assisting with the creation of templates and processes to assist with the collection of documentation from project teams in a clear and concise format
  • Staying current with all current changes to the LEED for Homes program, as well as criteria mentioned in the Rating System, such as ENERGY STAR
  • Other tasks as needed

Qualifications:

The successful applicant for the position will meet the following requirements:

  • Extremely strong attention to detail
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in the design and construction industry or related field
  • Knowledge of residential energy-efficient construction and green building, including diagnostic testing
  • Experience in project management
  • Computer literacy with MS Windows and MS Office
  • Willingness to work in a dynamic setting, balancing time spent on construction sites and trainings with time spent in the office
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Desire to travel throughout Virginia and neighboring states and work with local inspectors and builders (>10% of time will be spent on the road)
  • Experience with adult education a plus
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record as determined by insurance provider
  • HERS Rater certification and/or Green Rater certification strongly preferred

Physical Requirements:

Performing field inspections involves extensive navigation in and around buildings, attics and sites, as well as climbing ladders. Therefore, an applicant must possess physical dexterity, endurance and balance to safely and effectively accomplish this work and be able to lift 40 lbs.

Hours of Work: Monday through Friday 8:30AM-5:00PM generally, with some flexible options. Occasional weekend or evening hours. Some travel required.

Compensation: Based on experience.
