Position Overview:
Teleosis Institute is seeking an executive director with a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience to grow our efforts reducing healthcare's footprint while promoting greater health. As a progressive business, our staff and programs engage health professionals in sustainability initiative's linking the health of individuals, communities and the physical environment. Our incoming executive director must share our commitment to reflective action, collaborative inquiry and organizational transparency.
Responsibilities:
As Executive Director, you are responsible for the management of all policies, programs and operations of Teleosis Institute. This includes developing the vision and strategy; fundraising; administrative and fiduciary functions; and representing the organization to stakeholders and the broad community with which Teleosis Institute interacts.
Specifically, as Executive Director, you:
- Represent Teleosis Institute as an articulate, persuasive, charismatic advocate to stakeholders, funders, grantees, other partner organizations and the community.
- In partnership with the Board, determine and ensure that the mission, vision and values of Teleosis Institute are current and being adhered to. This includes initiating long-range strategic and operational planning and being responsible and accountable for their implementation, including the development of new or expanded programs as needed or as opportunities arise.
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit foundation, corporate and individual grants and gifts in support of Teleosis Institute and its work.
- Direct and expand core programs: including green healthcare programs, green pharmacy programs and integral medicine programs. Supervising staff in identifying and implementing best practices and evaluating outcomes, investigate and analyze opportunities to make our programs available to new constituencies. Strategically consider opportunities to develop new programs.
- Manage and support the staff.
- Develop budgets, oversee revenues and expenditures, maintain internal controls and financial discipline, and work with the Board to ensure the financial well-being of the organization.
- Take executive responsibility for organizational compliance with all applicable non-profit laws, contractual obligations, and donor restrictions, and you maintain appropriate internal policies and procedures to ensure such compliance.
Qualifications:
You have a passion, perspective, and experience with the role of health care in society, including a deep sensitivity to its environmental impact.
Specifically, as the ideal candidate you have:
- Leadership ability: You demonstrate the ability to live and act from a deeply-felt connection to your source of inspiration, giving your work meaning, and leading an organization from this place of inspiration.
- Strategic Vision: You have a proven ability to anticipate changing environmental needs and initiate long-range strategic and operational planning, accepting responsibility for the implementation of all such plans. You have taken calculated risks, been open to feedback, and able to alter direction - in order to lead an organization. You have thorough experience in decision-making processes, engaging diverse stakeholders in such processes, making and implementing decisions.
- Knowledge of the Field: You have successful experience and knowledge of education programs for healthcare particularly with the focus of environmental action.
- Management Ability: You have successfully demonstrated the ability to oversee administrative and fiduciary functions including recruiting, training, supervising, mentoring and delegating duties and responsibilities to the staff, with whom you identify collegially.
- Fundraising: You successfully mastered the funding universe, especially that of foundations, demonstrating the ability to identify, cultivate, and solicit potential major individual donors, corporations, and government agencies.
- Administrative Experience: You have proven administrative skills transferable to a small non-profit organization.
- Computer skills: You have general computer skills necessary for most office tasks, understanding the strategic significance of new technology in making long-range strategic decisions.
- Personal traits: You are a motivator, guide and coach for the staff. This includes a history of being self-motivated, exhibiting integrity and honesty at all times, including the ability to be cooperative, responsive, diplomatic, friendly and persuasive, to be a team player and to be an effective listener.
- Self-reflecting practice: You have a committed lifelong practice of reflecting on your own limitations and mistakes, as well as the confidence to make clear decisions and stand behind them.
- 5 years of experience in a leadership role in a business, non-profit or academic setting.
Compensation: $72,000 to $90,000 commensurate with qualifications
