Director, Solar Cell Packaging

SOLEXEL, INC. is developing high-efficiency, low-cost, crystalline silicon solar cell and module products for grid-tied residential, commercial, and industrial photovoltaic (PV) electricity generation applications.

Position Overview:

The Solar Cell Packaging Director will be responsible for the development, integration, productization, and reliability engineering as well as supply chain and contract manufacturing management of Solexels HVM thin cell packaging meeting our packaging thermal budget, cell performance, reliability, and cost specifications

Qualifications:

• MS or Ph.D. in Engineering or Physical Sciences or equivalent
• In-depth knowledge of materials and processes in module packaging, chip packaging including flip-chip packaging, and printed circuit boards
• In-depth knowledge of screen printing and stencil printing processes as well as related screen-printable dielectric and conductive adhesives
• In-depth knowledge of stresses and stress reduction techniques in laminated film structures
• Hands-on working experience in product reliability engineering
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with product engineering, R&D, and/or reliability engineering
• Experience with and/or deep knowledge of semiconductor, PCB, and/or solar cell manufacturing
• Extensive project management experience, including establishing and monitoring metrics associated with performance, cost, delivery, and product quality objectives
• Knowledge and experience with FMEAs, Control Plans, validation, program engineering management.
• Thorough knowledge of relevant PV industry standards and specifications, especially UL1703, IEC 61215, IEC 61730
