JDM Associates is an energy management and environmental consulting firm specializing in real estate and located in Falls Church, VA.
Position Overview:
JDM Associates is seeking a highly motivated and team-oriented engineering consultant. The ideal candidate will be able to identify building improvement opportunities and make recommendations through virtual and physical reviews of mechanical operations, maintenance activities, and utility consumption to improve overall operating efficiencies of clients' real estate. Excellent technical writing, communication, and mentoring skills are required.
The position advises and works closely with a senior engineer, project managers, clients, and JDM principals. Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Commissioning Agent (CCA), and/or LEED Accredited Professional (AP) designations are a plus. Additionally, exposure to property management or building operations is also a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Perform virtual and physical review of mechanical operations, maintenance activities, and utility consumption to identify opportunities to improve overall operating efficiencies of client's real estate. May include:
o HVAC/mechanical systems
o Preventative maintenance programs
o Chiller and boiler operations, water treatment, plumbing and irrigation systems
o EMS operation, programming, and utilization
o Lighting and control systems
o Energy management, operating costs, and utility consumption
o Environmental and safety considerations - Conduct cost/benefit analysis using both simple and complex calculations to develop budget guidelines for client use to support improvement recommendations.
- Conduct on-site asset evaluations/assessments nationally, and provide engineering and operational support to assigned properties. Provide MEP review for new projects.
- Participate in, coach, and provide training support (guidelines, templates, checklists, slides, etc.) towards the overall technical development of JDM personnel.
- Assist in creating JDM proprietary and deliverable materials for clients.
- Utilize ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager tool to benchmark clients' properties' energy and water performance.
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to instill confidence and action.
- Motivated self-starter with strong work ethic and commitment to improving the environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, self-directed, and open environment.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, industry publications, and mechanical/electrical schematics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to edit technical material/proposals.
- College degree in a related field (e.g., mechanical or electrical engineering).
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional experience.
- Solid computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
