Description

Scholls Valley Native Nursery LLC , a Salmon-Safe Certified Native Plant Nursery in Forest Grove, Oregon, is seeking a Full-Time Field Supervisor to assist Scholls Valley with labor supervision, field management, and equipment and facilities management.

Responsibilities:

  • Labor Supervision (in accordance with BOLI and OSHA): Supervise field crew members and contract labor; Track labor, hours, and productivity; Collect, manage and report payroll and human resource data; Provide/secure adequate safety training for all laborers.
  • Field Management (in accordance with Salmon Safe Certification): Prepare and plan nursery fields, irrigation; Develop and stay within plans/budgets; Run, hire and maintain equipment; Soil management; Manage field preparation, sowing, spray, mow, weeding, etc.; Irrigation management; Spraying and record keeping; Demonstrate and manage safe practices; Coordinate seed collection, cleaning, storage and seed inventory.
  • Customer Service: Pull plant orders for delivery/pick-up; Interface with customers on phone, computer, and in person regarding plants and orders.
  • Equipment and Facilities Management: Maintain equipment; Organize and maintain all tools, sprayers and supplies; Manage all herbicides.
  • Communication/Reports: Attend weekly meetings with owners, make recommendations and provide guidance for fields, consult with staff and experts, provide weekly summary reports to supervisor and office personnel for billing and tracking purposes.

Qualifications:

  • Prior nursery supervision and field experience
  • Ability to run nursery equipment, spray equipment, and drive forklift, tractor and delivery truck
  • Ability to work outdoors across uneven terrain during inclement weather
  • Strong math skills and organizational ability
  • Knowledge of native plants, habitats, botany, horticulture
  • Computer proficiency: Word and Excel
  • Ability to safely lift 60 pounds
  • Basic Spanish language proficiency

Compensation: To be determined ($20 - $28 per hour, depending on experience)
