Description
Founded in 1980, Land's Sake is a private, nonprofit corporation dedicated to responsible stewardship of suburban farmland and forests. By combining ecologically sound land management with experiential farm-based education, we provide a powerful model of how public open space can be effectively used and enjoyed by the community. Our efforts are centered on 3 themes: (1) sustainable land management and open space preservation, (2) farm-based education, and (3) community building and care.
Position Overview:
We are looking for energetic and knowledgeable individuals to assist the Education Director in leading farm-based educational programming. Individuals with a desire to work and learn outside will love the time spent on the farm or in the woods and will admire the variety of work the Land's Sake community shares.
Responsibilities:
- Primarily lead or co-lead 1 hour farm-based educational field trips for Pre-K - 3rd grade school groups. There may be opportunities to work with some older groups as well.
- Pre program set-up, post program clean up and debrief.
Qualifications:
- Teaching experience in a school or non-traditional setting.
- A background or passion for environmental education and farm-based education.
- The ability to multi-task and work independently.
- Must be physically able to work outdoors and willing to do so in bad weather if necessary.
- Access to a car and valid driver's license.
- First Aid training preferred.
- Must be able to pass CORI check.
Compensation: Pay is based on $10 per hour. The opportunity to work, learn and be inspired along side dedicated staff and volunteers on a beautiful organic farm for a uniquely diverse local nonprofit!
Employment dates: Employment will be based on a per program basis, we ask that our educators commit to certain time slots each week starting the week of February 28th through June 17th. Most programs are scheduled for mornings and early afternoon.
