The AEWC Advanced Structures and Composites Center at the University of Maine, a leader in composite, boat building and offshore wind technology seeks an innovative and experienced executive with entrepreneurial and innovative ideas to fill the position of Business Development Executive for Offshore Wind. The Center, an 87,000 ft² laboratory with a world leading team of over 120 faculty, staff and students conducts research with a variety of public and private entities developing the next generation of low-cost high-performance composite materials.
Position Overview:
The successful candidate will create partnerships that promote investment in innovation, which will extend the impact of the University of Maine's research in deep water offshore wind technology. This position will generate new R&D projects and create opportunities leading to the commercialization of the University's intellectual property by managing the business operations required to develop innovations into marketable products and services.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in engineering is required. A Master's in engineering or science is preferred. Master's in marketing or business preferred, with course work in business development, investment, or law. Must have extensive experience in product development and manufacturing processes.
Experience with offshore wind, wind blades, wind turbine structures, and associated components is preferred. Service in industry as a technical lead, more than 15 years demonstrated success in commercializing and launching products is required, preferably wind industry related. Demonstrated project management abilities required. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication and networking skills required. An established and growing network with key contacts in the wind industry is preferred.

Compensation: Salary is appropriate to knowledge skills and abilities of the successful candidate. This position is contingent upon funding and successful performance and will be evaluated in accordance with the Handbook for Non-Represented Faculty and Salaried Staff. Appropriate background checks will be required.
