Position Overview:
Third Way seeks a Senior Advisor to play a major role on its Clean Energy Innovation Project (CEIP). The CEIP is a sustained effort to move policymakers, influencers and, ultimately, the public to support long-term federal action to bring clean energy innovation to scale. Reporting to the Director of Clean Energy, this position is part of Third Way's Clean Energy team.
This position would be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the project's strategy, including outreach to and coordination with other organizations, event management and media relations.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Identifying and developing strategies for Third Way to build alliances with the innovation sector including, but not limited to policymakers, clean tech and venture capitalists, media, advocacy organizations and academia
- Planning and managing public Third Way events on innovation in Washington, DC and other locations;
- Planning and managing private Third Way briefings on innovation with sector leaders and the media;
- Representing Third Way while working closely with Congress, the Administration and agency offices, advocacy organizations, and other progressive leaders; and
- Conceiving and proposing ideas to build a sustained effort in the media supporting clean energy innovation.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate has the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor's Degree, graduate degree preferred by not required
- A minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant experience working on issues advocacy campaigns or managing communications and advocacy for a high-profile issue on Capitol Hill, with an issue advocacy organization or the equivalent. A familiarity with clean energy and innovation issues is preferred but not required.
- Candidates must have proven ability to write compelling and high-impact products. That means the ability to write crisp, clear prose and to articulate persuasive arguments.
- Must have strong public presentation
- Ability to exercise diplomacy in communications with external contacts and staff
- Must have a proven track record of managing multiple on-going projects, staff and consultants.
- Work experience in a team environment with minimal supervision, demonstrating an ability to prioritize and take appropriate action
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Discretion handling confidential information
- Excellent computer and MS Office Suite skills
- Ability to solve problems creatively
